Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts is a luxury hotel chain with properties in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. They provide luxury accommodations and premium services, including fancy rooms, fine dining, spa treatments, and fun activities.
Cinnamon’s target guests are usually high-income earners or couples looking for unique experiences and amenities in exotic places.
Russian-speaking travelers are really important for our hotels in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, but we were struggling to reach them with our usual marketing tools. We needed a more efficient way to show our hotels to Russian-speaking guests and get more bookings from this region.
We decided to focus on search engine advertising because lots of travelers use search engines when planning their trips. Yandex is the biggest search engine in Russia and CIS countries, so it seemed perfect for reaching our future guests. We planned to use both text and visual ads to show off our properties.
We set up Yandex Direct search ads — both text and visual — for our Sri Lankan hotels, including our beach resorts and city hotels in Colombo. We wanted these ads to make more people aware of our hotels and encourage them to book sooner. Eventually, Yandex advertising was really helpful in getting Russian-speaking guests to find and book our hotels!
The results were great! For our resorts, we got a 271% increase in traffic from the Russian-speaking market just from these ads. The ads also helped with a 23% rise in all bookings. In Colombo, our Yandex advertising led to a 46% increase in website visitors in just the first four months.
We’ve gotten many more Russian-speaking visitors to our website, and more of them are booking stays with us. Yandex Direct has been great for helping us connect with the guests we wanted to reach.
